Went to La Barca for an early dinner. Restaurant wasn't as lively as it usually is, but that's okay, it's early on a Tuesday afternoon. Restaurant is large and spacious. 7 people sat comfortably at one table. Our servers were amazing. They were Super helpful and respectful. I was in the mood for a hearty soup so I ordered the Seafood Shrimp Soup. This soup is just what the doctor ordered. Plenty of shrimp and vegetables that easily filled me up. The best part was the broth they use for this soup. Everyone knows All the vitamins and minerals are in the broth. Next time I come to La Barca, I'll probably try the Caldo 7 Mares. If you are ever passing through the city of Downey, I highly recommend this restaurant for all your Mexican Food needs.

I don't get the crummy reviews. The people giving this joint 1 star must be driving in from Bel Air. Comparing this to say Acapulco's Buffet, which I like, is night and day. I had several meats that rivaled that of other Mexican restaurants which sell their crummy offerings by the plate. For 22 bucks I filled my belly with Chicken Mole (my fave), costillas de rez, steak picado, and some bomb plantains. Gorged on two plates like a piglet while sipping on some cafe de olla. The line does look like it builds up, we'll get up early and avoid it. Not too hard! Service was fantastic, and the decor hit. Cinco Estrellas
